Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU) in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, was established in 1965 to meet the higher education needs of the region. Originally named Meerut University, it was renamed in honor of the former Prime Minister of India, Chaudhary Charan Singh, in 1991.
